Women’s beauty contests have long been known and widely disseminated. The standards of beauty for all peoples are slightly different. But everyone loves well-groomed people who know how to dress beautifully. And it so happened that women’s beauty – a subject more discussed and noticed than the male. But the Nigerian tribe Wodaabe does not fit into the generally accepted framework. Every year they hold a celebration, at which women appreciate the beauty of men.

The holiday of a pile lasts a week. Men as brightly as possible dress up and paint faces in different colors. Here the color choice is symbolic – red means courage and courage, ohrist – mysticism, white – death. Black is used by everyone, since it perfectly emphasizes the whiteness of the teeth and the outline of the eyes. This color is obtained from the ashes of bones. Clothing contestants mainly consists of toga length to toe and accessories in the form of beads. Headdresses are a turban or a hat, also pretentiously and diligently decorated with all sorts of trinkets.

The male beauty contest consists of several stages. First the rank of the participants passes through the savanna, while the women’s jury evaluates them. Such parameters as smile width, height, physique and endurance are taken into account. Her men demonstrate, competing among themselves in catching game, songs, riding camels, dancing. At the same time, they often conjure and enter into a trance, clenching their teeth and rolling their eyes. This is partly due to an alcoholic beverage from the bark, which produces a side effect – hallucinations. It is used to quench your thirst.
During the competition, any girl can approach the participant and slap him on the flight. So she chooses her husband! But this is not a standard “union”. A woman can already be married. But such a link is justified by the name “marriage for love”. And the result of such “intrigues” are children.
When the male beauty contest is completed, the winner is announced. What does he get? The ability to choose any number of girls and take them for yourself for a month.
In general, the women of this tribe are considered one of the most pretty women of West Africa. The people of Wodaabe appreciate only three main things – beauty, family and cattle.
