During the emergency meeting, the Ukrainian government has decided to apply urgent measures for stabilization the energy industry. This situation has arisen due to the blockade of the coal that comes from the Donbas. Within a month, a rolling power outage is possible throughout Ukraine. The order comes into force today, 17 February.
The company “Energoatom” will determine the acceptable level of reduction of power generating facilities. If necessary, the graph of hourly power outages will be developed.
It also has stated that three days before the expiration of the decree, the head of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine will inform the Cabinet of Ministers on the state of affairs.
The reasons for this situation
Coal deficit came after the radical-minded people blocked the railway connection between Kyiv and the uncontrolled by the Ukrainian government part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
