Brazilian coffee is known worldwide. Fans of this bracing drink appreciate the variety grown in the South American country. But this year, for the first time, Brazil will buy coffee. The grains will be imported from Vietnam.
To cover the domestic demand, the government of Brazil plans to buy 60 million kg of coffee “Robusta”.
Reasons for imports
This difficult situation is caused by the drought that struck the Brazil. From adverse weather conditions, the regions where coffee is grown suffered a lot. The most significant damage was caused to the state of Espirito Santo. It is here that one of the most popular varieties of fragrant drink – Robusta matures.
Due to the shortage of coffee, the cost for Brazilian consumers has increased significantly. Compared to the last year, the price has increased by almost 15%.
