Turkey’s ruling party worked out a new Constitution. According to the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, the deputies have done a great job in preparing this document. Soon the proposals for the Constitutional amendments will be submitted to the Turkish parliament.
Constitutional reform will be accepted if 367 deputies vote for it.
330 votes will be required for bringing this issue to a national referendum.
At this moment, the Turkish ruling party of Justice and Development has only 317 votes.
According to the project of the new Constitution, a parliamentary republic of Turkey will be transformed into a presidential one. A term of the presidential ruling will be five years.
The decision of changing the Turkish Constitution was made after an attempted coup d’etat in this July. Then a valid President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has suggested that the country’s main document would be changed.
Nowadays Turkey has the Constitution which was adopted 34 years ago after the similar events.
