Strikes in two Berlin airports “Schonefeld” and “Tegel” continue. More than 700 flights were canceled due to these events. This is not the first protest action organized by airport employees. Several strikes have been carried out in recent weeks.
The protest actions are aimed at increasing the salaries of the staff, who works directly in the airport building. German trade union Verdi demands to raise the pay of loaders and workers who control the passenger traffic. Otherwise, rallies and strikes will be organized in a chaotic manner.
To date, the strikers’ salary is 11 euros per hour. The staff wants to get 12.8 euros for the work.
The airport management is not yet ready to give a definitive answer to the demands put forward.
