The Holodomor of 1932-1933

85 years have passed since then, and the memory of this terrible event in the history of Ukraine has not disappeared. The reasons for the famine of 1932-1933 are much disputed. Various theories are being proposed. But we know one thing — in this tragedy many people died. According to various data — from 3 to 10 million people.
In 1931, the export of grain products in the country increased sharply. And next year was lean. The government has not, for a long time, reduced the norm of plans. The villages were forced to give all the grown food to partially fulfill the plan. As a result, in some regions people were left without food. And they were forbidden to move to more secure places of power. The result was a lot of deaths. Hunger mercilessly destroyed both old and small. So many people have suffered grief, that it is permanently imprinted in the memory of the nation. The content of many previously classified documents is now made public. And it becomes more and more clear that the government then acted consciously. The people of Ukraine were subject to genocide for attempts to fight for independence.

Britain did not recognize the famine of 1932-1933 as genocide

Recently, the British Foreign Ministry said that it was not going to call those events the genocide of the Ukrainian people. The reason was the fact that the UN Convention on Holodomor was published after those events.
In the US Congress, on the contrary, they prepared a resolution on recognizing the Holodomor-Genocide.

Ukrainian activists held a rally in memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Israel

Within the framework of the action, local residents were offered to try, «the dish», the only one available during the Holodomor. «Soup» made of cones, different leaves and bark of trees was called «the most disgusting thing you can try.» In this way, activists told people about the events of 1932-1933.
