If iPhone don’t turn on

As you probably know, the iPhone and iPad did not come down to us from heaven … but from Jobs’ garage. Therefore, like everything material in this world, these gadgets are not ideal in nature and can fail and freeze. If the iPhone don’t turn on or suddenly stops turning on, you have come to the right place.

In this article, we will look at the most common iPhone won’t turn on problems and try to find a solution for each of them. Now stop panicking and relax… Now we will fix everything…

If you dropped your iPad from the 14th floor, or washed your iPhone along with your jeans, this article is unlikely to help you. Here and so it should be clear that the device suffered quite serious damage. In such a situation, it is better not to wonder why the iPhone does not turn on, but to immediately contact the service center.

Suppose you do not know the reason why your iPhone don’t turn on. Then let’s focus on the symptoms given by your device, and then decide what can be done in each similar case.

Actually, here are the most common symptoms of a problematic iPhone:

Permanently black screen
– Application stuck
– iPhone does not respond to button presses
– The Apple apple is constantly on the screen
– iPhone gets hot
Let’s look at each of the reasons in more detail, as well as list the possible steps and solutions to turn on the iPhone.
Permanently black screen
The most common case is when the iPhone screen remains black no matter what buttons you press. This is usually caused by a dead battery or frozen iOS. In the rarest cases, it is possible that the firmware has flown, but more on that below. The next couple of steps should get your device back up and running.

iPhone don't turn on

STEP 1 – If your iPhone has been in the cold for a long time, I give you a 100% guarantee that this is the reason that it does not turn on. Didn’t you know that lithium-ion batteries do not tolerate low temperatures and almost immediately “lose their charge”? Warm the phone in your palms and go to step 2.

STEP 2 – Connect iPhone to charger and leave for at least 10 minutes. If the cause was a dead battery, the iPhone should turn on by itself. Otherwise, go to STEP 3.

Connect iPhone to charger

STEP 3 – At this step, you need to hard reset the iPhone (it is better not to disconnect the charging cable). This procedure is slightly different for different iPhone models. More precisely, the way it is performed is different … To make it clearer to you, below I have given brief instructions:

4S/6S iPhone: hold down the HOME and POWER buttons for 15 seconds.
7 iPhone: hold down the POWER and – volume buttons for 15 seconds.
8/X/XR/XS/11 iPhone: quickly press and release the volume + button, then the same with -, then hold down the Side button (formerly called POWER) for 15 seconds.

If the combination above is successful, the iPhone screen should first turn off and then display the glowing apple logo. Release the buttons and wait about one minute for iOS to fully launch.

STEP 4 – Sometimes you need to turn on/off the mute switch a couple of times before doing STEP 2. No one knows why, but it REALLY helps if holding down the HOME and POWER buttons does nothing.

If these steps don’t work, and if the iPhone won’t turn on, it could mean one of the following:

Charging cable is defective
The power adapter is out of order
iPhone Internal Components Faulty
Find a 100% working charger and cable and try steps 2-4 again.

Don’t be skeptical about the charging module and cable.

Most recently, I replaced my native “lace”, because. when using it, the iPhone was only charged up to 60%. Apple charging cables are very “delicate” and can fail even without external damage.

As for power adapters (in common people – charging), I can say one thing – TRY TO USE ORIGINAL POWER ADAPTERS. Frankly, cheap Chinese fakes heat up and melt right in the process. This applies to both home 220V and car 12V chargers.

Cable for iPhone from AliExpress Now, about Lightning cables – the original wire is initially flimsy, but costs an expensive $ 19. I advise everyone to purchase a lightning cable from Ugreen, which is marked MFI (Made For iPhone) and accordingly uses the original lightning chip. For little money you get an eternal cable!

Well, if you charged your iPhone with anything (for example, with cheap Chinese car adapters), there may be a case of failure of the power controller or the iPhone charge controller.

If this is your case, then the battery will simply not physically be able to accept a charge, because. the microcontroller that controls charging does not give the necessary command for this. I wrote about this in an accessible language in a separate article – read here.

It’s hard to do something on your own, and if the iPhone doesn’t turn on, it’s best to contact a normal service center.

Application stuck
It also happens that an application on the iPhone may freeze or stop working normally. In this case, you must forcefully close it and thus unload it from the phone’s memory.

In order to force close the application, do the following:

iPhone 4S – 8: double-click the HOME button, and then swipe up to swipe the hated app.

Unload app from iPhone storage
iPhone X: Swipe from the very bottom of the screen and hold your finger on the screen. Before after app tiles. Swipe up to unload a hung application from memory.

iPhone won’t turn on
iPhone not responding to button presses
A couple of times my iPhone categorically stopped responding to pressing the physical buttons. At the same time, the screen of the last application usually remained on the screen, and I could not exit it. If you find yourself in a similar situation, simply “hard” restart your iPhone.

To do this, hold down the HOME and POWER buttons for 10 seconds (for iPhone 7, 8 and X, see the button combinations above).

Apple is constantly on the screen
It happens that the iPhone don’t turn on, but at the same time the Apple either lights up or disappears on the screen … and so on ad infinitum. This is usually caused by an unsuccessful iOS update, a clumsy jailbreak, or a failure to restore an iPhone from a backup.

In such a situation, it may seem that the phone has come to an end. But do not rush to conclusions, but rather try to do the following with the device.

Therefore, in most cases, this problem can be solved by restoring the iPhone to factory settings. There are several ways to do this, depending on your situation. Below I have given both iPhone recovery modes.

iPhone recovery mode

1 – Launch iTunes on your computer and connect the USB cable (you do not need to connect the USB cable to the phone yet).

2 – Turn off the iPhone while holding the HOME + POWER buttons (for iPhone 7, 8 and X, the combinations are listed above).

3 – Hold down the HOME button and connect the USB cable to the device.

4 – Hold down the HOME button until the iTunes logo and plug image is displayed on the device screen.

5 – A notification will appear on the computer screen that the device is in recovery mode.

6 – Now just click the Restore button… Be patient as Before restoring iPhone to factory settings, your computer will need to download the latest version of iOS from Apple’s servers. In this case, the phone will lie with the screen off and show no signs of life.

Even with good fast internet, the download process can take 40 minutes or more. If your Internet connection is unstable or slow, the process may never complete. Connect to a faster Wi-Fi connection.

DFU Mode
If your iPhone won’t turn on. Even after trying the above, there is one more way left – to restore the iPhone in DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode. To run the iPhone in DFU mode, you must clearly follow the instructions provided on the link above.

And if you need to put your iPhone X or 8 into DFU mode, read this article

iPhone gets hot

Very often, after the iPhone falls to the ground (even from a slight height), its screen goes blank, and the device itself no longer turns on. When trying to charge, the iPhone case immediately starts to get very hot, which is NOT normal.

In such cases, I would not experiment at home. God save you from the fire…

It is natural to think that after a physical impact (falling to the ground), the internal components of the iPhone could fail. What exactly, I cannot say. It needs to be disassembled and diagnosed. In this case, find a normal service center and entrust this issue to professionals.

None of the methods worked
What? Still struggling with your iPhone or iPad and can’t get it to work? My advice to you – save your nerves and go to a normal service center. No money is taken for a preliminary inspection.

Also, as one of the options, try the paid ReiBoot program from Chinese developers. As they assure, the program solves problems with loading iOS (there is support for iOS 15 beta). With the preservation or loss of all data (depending on the malfunction).
