Switch keyboard language

Although modern touch screen smartphones do not have a physical keyboard, typing on them is possible thanks to a virtual keyboard that appears on the screen when you press the input line. In this case, the keyboard uses the layout corresponding to the alphabet of the language. But what if the desired language is missing, and the default keyboard is the Latin alphabet? In this case, we can switch the language on the keyboard. This instruction will be useful if you want to print text using the language of your country or any other layout. Most virtual keyboards support various languages and provide the ability to switch between them.

Download keyboard

If you want to download a keyboard in your language, you can choose from any of the available apps, or stick to the default input that already has the layout you want. For example, I prefer to use the Gboard keyboard, which has many interesting features and is the default on almost all Android smartphones.

To add the desired language to the Android keyboard, you need to open the keyboard settings. Usually, the desired language should already be activated, since the input tool loads data based on the language settings of the system. At any time, you can add a language on the keyboard yourself by following the simple steps in the settings.

Before discussing how to change the keyboard language, it’s worth clarifying that adding too many layouts can make it difficult to switch between them. Therefore, it is important to know how to remove unwanted languages. This will make the process of switching between languages on the keyboard more convenient. Next, we will look at how to change the layout on an Android phone.

A way to change the language on the keyboard

The way you change the language on the keyboard depends on the input method you are using. There are usually two main options. The first method is used, for example, in Gboard and Google Keyboard, which we have already written about earlier. To switch the keyboard to the desired language or layout, you need to press the button in the form of a globe.

SwiftKey offers another way to change the language on the keyboard. To do this, you need to hold your finger on the “Space” button (which shows the current layout) and swipe right or left.

Although this method is somewhat inconvenient, you can get used to it. In addition, it is almost universally used to change the language on virtual keyboards and is the most common.

Customize the keyboard on your phone

If your input method does not support the desired layout, you will have to download and install another keyboard on your phone through the device settings. In our selection you can find a suitable option. Then follow a few simple steps:

You can also customize the keyboard on your phone, make changes to its default settings. However, this is already a separate topic, to which we have devoted another large text that deserves your attention.
