Watching the glaciers of Antarctica, the scientists have discovered that in the near future a huge piece of ice may break away from the main lump. According to the experts, the iceberg could be one of the largest known today.

The area of the future iceberg is almost 5000 square kilometers. A complete split is not yet occurred because a piece of ice is held over 20 kilometers.

The scientists consider that the emergence of a new iceberg could significantly change the structure of the glacier of Larson. This can lead to serious consequences. After all, this glacier blocked the way to other icebergs, without giving them the opportunity to float away in the open waters.

The crack is growing. Over the past two weeks, it has been increasing by almost 20 cm. The scientists suggest that a complete separation of the glacier can happen in two months.
