In Russia, mass protests of truckers continue. The drivers of most regions of the Russian Federation are protesting against the increase in tariffs for driving on the routes “Platon”. Among the participants of the action, there are workers of enterprises of St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, Primorski Krai, Amur Region, etc.
The drivers leave wagons along roads, and thus, impede normal turnover of goods.
According to the Association of Carriers of the Russian Federation, at least 10,000 drivers take part in the protest.
The truckers require the government to cancel or at least substantially reduce the tariffs set for driving on federal routes. According to Russian legislation, the owners of trucks weighing more than 12 tons are required to pay a fee for the using of roads, since their vehicles severely destroy the roadway.
