Japanese scientists found the oxygen on the Moon. Data were obtained from SELENE satellite. After a series of experiments, the experts have decided that this chemical element is similar to Earth’s.
According to the scientists, the oxygen could get to the moon more than two billion years ago, when there was oxygen catastrophe. This event contributed to the appearance of this element in the Earth’s atmosphere.
The scientists have suggested that the ions hit the surface when Earth, Moon, and Sun were located on the same line. The particles covered the distance in almost 400 thousand kilometers.
The Japanese pay much attention to the study of the Moon. They believe that everything that happens on the Earth is reflected in its natural satellite. Japanese scientists plan to launch an automatic device for a more thorough study of the space object.
