The consumers’ protection organization from Holland found out that Microsoft had implemented an additional setting in the Windows 10 operating system that is not visible to the naked eye. Hidden advertising is installed by default. It can be seen only if you move the cursor in the lower right corner of the screen during the installation of the operating system.

At this point, a scroll bar appears, where the advertisement setting is displayed.

This function enables the application to identify the range of interests of the user. After analyzing the information, the operating system sends the client the advertisement that will be useful to him.

The demands of human rights defenders

Dutch consumer advocates want this feature not to be configured by default. The consumer should decide for himself whether he wants to activate such a setting on his device.
