The scientists from Great Britain could breed a sort of potatoes that contain fewer calories. The most interesting thing is that the experts did not set such a goal. The researchers wanted to grow a root crop, which had a pleasant creamy smell. The low-calorie content of the product has become an additional bonus for the scientists.

The specialists named a new kind of potato “Vivaldi” (probably, in honor of the famous Italian composer).

According to the laboratory tests, this sort contains almost one-third fewer carbohydrates and calories than ordinary potatoes have.
