Criminal liability is envisaged for insulting the President of Tajikistan.
The Government of Tajikistan has issued a decree which provides a serious punishment for insulting the country’s president.
The current president Emomali Rahmon has been ruling the country for almost 25 years. According to the recent changes in the Tajik legislation, the governor of this state can be elected as the head of the country for the unlimited number of times.
The next presidential elections in Tajikistan will be held in four years. Emomali Rahmon will be able to pretend for the presidency. Despite the fact that he has been taking this position for the fourth times.
Last year, the Tajik parliament adopted a law under which E.Rahmon was announced the perpetual state leader. He is supported a lifelong pension, transport, insurance and housing.
The government plans to assign Emomali Rahmon the honorary title “Founder of independent Tajikistan.”
