Painting by famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was sold at Sotheby’s for nearly two million dollars. Picture name is “Girl with a necklace.” It depicts a young girl, much like the artist herself. It is known that most of the paintings of Frida Kahlo are a self-portrait.

“Girl with a necklace” was written 88 years ago. The picture has not previously exhibited. The admirers of Kahlo could know about its existence only in black-and-white photographs taken by Lola Alvarez Bravo during the life of Frida Kahlo. This self-portrait was considered to be lost.

In fact, the picture was kept in the house of the Mexican artist’s assistant. After the death of Kahlo, Diego Rivera (husband of Frida) presented the painting to the maid. Many years later, the assistant has decided to sell the precious painting.

Pictures created by Kahlo, are highly prized among the art lovers. Her painting “Two Nudes in the Forest” was recently sold for $ 8 million.
